Gull Lake View Golf Resort is based in Augusta, Michigan 49012, conveniently located near the shopping, dining and attractions of Gull Lake, Kalamazoo and Battle Creek. Gull Lake was naturally formed at the end of the last Ice Age, when several large blocks of ice broke off of a withdrawing glacier. As they melted, they left several depressions in the land that remain today. In 1833 a dam was constructed to power a sawmill along Gull Creek, doubling the size of the lake. Prior to that dam's construction, the Island at the southeast end of Gull Lake was actually a peninsula.
The lake was an area favorite for steam boat rides in the 1880s, and in the early 1900s, Labelle Park brought a luxury hotel, toboggan slide, and miniature golf to the region. Today, Gull Lake's shoreline is lined with multi-million dollar summer homes and remains one of the most sought after addresses in the state. Year round outdoor activities such as boating, golfing, hunting, fishing, skiing, ice-fishing and ice boating makes Gull Lake a unique place to call home and visit.

Fort Custer Recreation Area comprises 3,033 acres located between Battle Creek and Kalamazoo. Originally farmland, the area was acquired by the federal government to establish Camp Custer, an induction and military training center for the US Army during WWII. The land was deeded to the State of Michigan under President Nixon's Legacy of Parks in 1971.
