Position Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Agronomy/Golf Course Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent directs and participates in the maintenance of tees, greens, fairways, irrigation systems, and course infrastructure across Gull Lake View Golf Resort properties.
This position supervises agronomy staff, helps coordinate daily maintenance operations, and may serve in the Superintendent’s capacity during their absence.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Assist in fostering a culture of quality, hospitality, and continuous improvement
- Supervise and delegate tasks to agronomy staff
- Schedule work assignments for efficient use of labor and equipment
- Train equipment operators in proper mowing and equipment care
Turf & Course Operations
- Direct and participate in daily maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, bunkers, and cart paths
- Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and soil amendments
- Monitor turf health, disease pressure, pest activity, and irrigation performance
- Supervise and assist with irrigation and drainage system maintenance
- Operate and maintain pumps and motorized equipment
- Monitor inventory of fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation parts, and safety supplies
- Maintain accurate recordkeeping and reporting
Strategic & Administrative Support
- Assist with budgeting, capital planning, and equipment maintenance planning
- Support development and execution of comprehensive turf management programs
- Identify opportunities to improve course presentation and playability
- Play the golf course periodically to inspect product quality
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of golf course agronomy experience
- Valid Driver’s License
- Valid Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
- Working knowledge of:
- Golf course turf maintenance practices
- Irrigation systems and pump stations
- Herbicides and pest control methods
- Equipment operation and maintenance
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to supervise, lead, and motivate a team
- Strong problem-solving ability in dynamic outdoor conditions
- High attention to detail with a constant eye toward improving course conditions

Pay: $21.00 – $25.00 per hour
