In 1962, when Darl and Letha Scott began work on the first of Gull Lakes View’s golf courses, they began to define and exemplify exactly how exquisite Michigan’s destination golf resort business could be. While the 18 holes that started it all, Gull Lake View West, were finished three years later, the Scotts have continued to innovate and set the standard for stay and play golf vacations. Their ongoing efforts continue to enhance the beauty and challenge that characterizes this and all of their courses.
But the Scott’s didn’t stop with Gull Lake View West. Next on their list was the creation of Gull Lake View East, the second exceptional offering in what was quickly becoming Michigan’s most talked about golf resort. Completed within ten years of Gull Lake View West, this course has gone on to earn consistently high ratings and has been voted as high as the tenth best course in Michigan.
The Scott’s knew their excellent course design and gorgeous landscape made their place special. Their desire to share these features with golfers from around the world motivated their next project, building comfortable lodging for stay and play golf vacations. Just a year after finishing Gull Lake View East, Darl and Letha designed and constructed the Fairway Villas. These 2 bedroom, 2 bath villas boast modern kitchens, spacious living areas and picturesque patios perfect for groups of four to relax and enjoy Southwest Michigan’s finest golf resort.
But back to golf! With still more dramatic and rolling countryside to enjoy, the Scott’s set out to design and build their third course. The result was Stonehedge South. Completed in 1988, this is a favorite for players who enjoy a walk in the country as much as they enjoy playing championship golf.
The fourth of the five Gull Lake View courses was designed in 1965 by William Mitchell and was purchased by the Scott Family in 1988. When tournament level golf needs a place to play in Michigan, this is where it goes. A frequent host for championship games, Bedford Valley provides a perfect blend of challenge and beauty. Knowing the value of this course, the Scotts added a brand new clubhouse in 2008 to enhance its desirability.
Golfers who love forested terrain and formidable elevation changes will love Gull Lake View’s fifth course, Stonehedge North. Designed by Charles and Jon Scott, Stonehedge North opened in 1995 and has been impressing golfers with its dramatic landscape features ever since.
The most recent addition to Gull Lake View’s championship golf offerings is Stoatin Brae. Unlike anything else Michigan golf has to offer, this emerald jewel sits at one of the highest points in Kalamazoo County and commands sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. This is a special course whose dramatic design inspires golfers to play their best.
An incredible opportunity to play world-class golf on six unique courses is just one of the reasons that Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort is Michigan’s most desirable golfing destinations. Gull Lake View also offers two award-winning communities for players who want to live close to the action. In 2002, Jon Scott set aside 40-acres of open space along the fairways and wooded hills of Stonehedge South to create The Woods at Stonehedge. These one of a kind locations offer premier real estate for building your custom dream home amongst the grandeur of southwest Michigan’s lake country. Founded in 2005, Cranes Pond is an award-winning 250-acre private gated community centered around a 54-acre lake. This exclusive community highlights a relaxed lifestyle and environmental sustainability in its approach to living where you play.
Because the Scott family has owned and operated Gull Lake View Golf Club and Resort for over 50 years, they know exactly what it takes to make your golf vacation exceptional. Every day, they use four generations of vision, experience, and knowledge to provide world-class customer service and to craft the outstanding golf vacations that make Gull Lake View Michigan’s premier golf destination.
